Roveri Smart Village – revitalisation in Bologna

As a part of the project Go SIV, representatives of the Regional Development Agency in Bielsko-Biała visited the partner agency ERVET; in the Region Emilia-Romagna in Italy. The topic of the meeting on 5th and 6th April 2018 was revitalisation of the industrial park Roveri by Bologna.

The revitalisation is a complex joint undertaking of the regional government, regional development agencies in cooperation with institutions such as ENEA – an Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development – or Confindustria – the main association representing manufacturing and services companies in Italy with a voluntary membership.

Multiple companies operate in the Roveri area. Many of them implemented elements of Industry 4.0, first of all ICT. ICT used are advanced but thanks to this they are user-friendly. They are employed in monitoring of the process quality, external presentations, supply management and many other. A significant element of the revitalisation of Roveri is the exploitation of the solar energy and the common presence of solar panels on roofs, optimisation of energy usage thanks to the insulation of buildings, smart heating and water systems.

What is also interesting, one of elements of the revitalisation was arranging the green areas in Roveri and the closest neighbourhood.

During the meeting several companies were visited: FIVE – Fabbrica Italiana Veicoli Elettrici, Kaeser Compressori, FRI – Fashion Research Italy, which implemented ICT and solar energy systems, Latiz Osteria Sociale – a social enterprise implementing integration programmes for disabled and refugees, and Up Urban Climbing – a sport climbing fitness arranged an industrial building adapted to the new needs.

The project Go-SIV is co-financed from the programme of European Union Horizon2020 and implemented by three regional development agencies: ADRAL from Portugal, Regional Development Agency in Bielsko-Biała from Poland and ERVET from Italy.
